Objectives:

- Follow ISO procedures and methods so that we maintain ISO certification.
- Work effectively with other members of the Ophir team in both the U.S. and Israel
- As requested, complete special assignments for OOI's president

Specific Requirements /Qualifications:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering with strong core courses in the fundamentals.
- 7-10 years related experience in the mechanical design of high stability opto-mechanical packaging, including kinematic mounting and precision adjustment and alignment.
- Proficiency with CAD and FEA modeling and drafting standards required.
- Excellent people skills and strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to apply basic principals of mechanical engineering to formulate new concepts and solutions in product development for IR cells and systems applications.
- Knowledge in machining process and characterization required.
- Willingness and ability to perform ?hands-on? technical work in a laboratory environment involving metrology, optical alignment, testing and data collection.
- Organized, with strong technical and computer skills. (Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint)
- Ability to establish and meet product design cost goals and meet schedule commitments.
- Good oral and written communications skills and the ability to provide clear, concise technical presentations.
- Highly motivated and team oriented.
- Must be willing and able to travel domestically and/or internationally as required to meet business or customer objectives. (Up to 25% travel is required)

Job Description:
Ophir Optics, a world leader in providing advanced IR Optics for imaging systems solutions to government, aerospace and commercial markets, at our new state of the art manufacturing facility in Wilmington, MA. We are seeking a highly motivated, Quality Assurance Engineer for our operation in Wilmington.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Position will participate as detailed below and as required:
- Quality Planning with thorough knowledge of inspection methods in the design, fabrication and assembly of optics and optical mechanical assemblies
- Design and implement methods and procedures for the inspection and test of optics and optical mechanical assemblies
- Implement SPC tools and techniques internal to Ophir as well as with our suppliers as required
- Analyze reports and returned product (RMA) providing recommended corrective actions.
- Support all inspection related service activities to include calibration, MRB, Ship to Stock, etc.
- Maintain product files so contents are accurate, legible, neat, and are ready for audit (Ophir, DNV or Customer) at any point in the build process.
Specific Requirements:
- Must possess the ability to operate an interferometer and interpret interferograms
- Must possess working knowledge of spherical, aspheric and diffractive optics
- Must possess working knowledge of MIL standards and specifications that are used in the optics industry
- Must have experience working with precision machined parts and processes as well as inspection techniques
- Optical/Mechanical commodity experience preferred
- Must have experience using PPAP's, FMEA's and APQP
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001-2000 and TS 16949
- Good interpersonal skills. Ability to interact positively with co-workers, suppliers and customers
- Team player with the ability and desire to participate in the professional exchange of technology, ideas and techniques with co-workers

Manufacturing Engineer Summary Description:
This position is responsible for developing and documenting processes that are efficient and meet requirements for products being produced. The products include standard and custom IR opto-mechanical products used in military and commercial applications. This position reports to Operations Manager.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop processes for new products
- Design and debug tooling for optics manufacturing, assembly, and test
- Develop and implement cost reduction plans relating to manufacturing processes
- Document processes and work instructions
- Deploy new manufacturing and measurement equipment
- Use process data to develop improvement plans to improve process capability
- Support production floor in resolving technical problems
- Support maintenance in resolving equipment problems
- Lead problem solving and troubleshooting assignments for manufacturing
- Follow ISO procedures and methods so that we maintain ISO certification
- Work effectively with other members of the Ophir team
- As requested, complete special assignments

- Ability to apply past experience and knowledge to formulate new solutions to manufacturing process problems.
- Knowledge of machining processes and characterization required.
- Willingness and ability to perform ?hands-on? technical work in a laboratory environment involving metrology, optical alignment, testing and data collection.

This position is responsible for the accurate production and operation of both CNC and conventional generating, grinding, and centering equipment.
Objectives:
Position is required to meet the customer requirements on infrared optical components by operating equipment in the Elements Department to achieve the company's cost, delivery and labor objectives.

Specific Responsibilities:
- Firm understanding and experience with CNC generating, grinding, and centering
- Ability to routinely produce spherical and plano surfaces on infrared materials per customer requirements
- Measure parts and record data associated with generating and centering. Measurements to include radius, ETV, and center thickness
- Meet scheduled delivery time for customer orders
- Achieve less than 1% defective products for the department
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment for the department
- Assist in training employees as required to meet the needs of the customer and to improve their overall skills
- Make recommendations to management on how to improve the efficiency and reduce cost of products
- Provide input to manufacturing's strategic plans as requested
- Follow ISO procedures and methods so that we continue to maintain ISO certification
